CIA Operative Ray Davis Released From Pakistan

He was NOT a diplomat. He does not qualify for diplomatic immunity. The contemporary world has witnessed new heights of coercive diplomacy. A public statement by President Obama declaring Raymond Davis a diplomat and asking Pakistan for his repatriation was overkill; indeed it was a diplomatic faux pas. American media was forbidden to mention the killer’s connection to CIA; ‘free and fair’ media faithfully obliged the government, until British media spilled the beans.

Two days before Davis went on killing spree, the US Embassy had forwarded its annual lists of diplomatic and non-diplomatic staff in Pakistan to the Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

Raymond Davis was not on the diplomatic list. The day after the incident, the US Embassy resubmitted a revised list adding killer’s name to diplomatic list. When Pakistani police took Davis into custody, he had an ordinary American passport with a valid ordinary Pakistan visa, issued by the Pakistan Embassy in Washington. A day later, Pakistani police was approached by a Lahore Consulate staffer in a hush hush manner to exchange that passport with another one. The new passport was a diplomatic one with a valid diplomatic visa stamped by Pakistan’s foreign office, sometime in 2009. However, police did not oblige. Prosecutors have presented two letters from the US Embassy as evidence before the Lahore High Court.

Davis is a confirmed CIA agent and is on a special mission to harm Pakistan. He had served in Special Forces for ten years after which he opened a security company at Las Vegas Nevada with fake addresses. He was sent to Pakistan as a security contractor under the aegis of Blackwater in 2007 and was attached with US Consulate in Peshawar. During his two years stay he developed contacts in North and South Waziristan and made frequent trips.

At best the US has tried to list him as a "consular employee". International law fails to make provisions for embassy and consular employees who commit crimes while performing tasks outside their daily work responsibilities. The American government has, of yet, come up with an explanation why a two car convoy of armed men was heading across the city of Lahore.

Further reports from Pakistan indicate that phone found in Davis’ vehicle, had made calls to members of Tehrik i’ Taliban, a terrorist group that has killed hundreds in the past few months.

THE REAL STORY

Press stories are largely inaccurate and incomplete. This is what actually happened according to high ranking sources in the Punjab police and government officials who wish to remain anonymous.

Tonight, Afzal, the uncle of Shumaila, the widow of one of the slain men who had committed suicide, went on Pakistani television. He told the audience, moments ago:

Family members were told they were being taken to the police station to make statements. Instead, they were taken to a secret location and held in isolation and told that unless they signed a letter pardoning Davis, “you will never see daylight.”

BACKGROUND

Senator John Kerry flew to Pakistan on February 16, 2011. He met with Punjab’s ruling duo, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his brother Nawaz Sharif, heads of the PML, Pakistan Muslim League. Kerry announced that the release would occur in a few days, although families refused to meet with him.

Rana Sanaullah the Punjab Law Minister played the lead role. Sources in Pakistan indicate that government and police officials in Punjab received millions in CIA payoffs in the deal.

Both PML leaders, the brothers Shahbaz and Nawaz Sharif, left Pakistan for London earlier this week.
